I have a 15 gallon craftsman air compressor model# 919.167241 that will not start. I have emptied the tank of pressure. I have confirmed there is power going to the motor when the switch is in the on position. There is no noise at all coming from the motor once the switch is turned on.

The last time I used it was late fall, and I do not remember it stopping suddenly or anything out of the ordinary. The next time I tried to use it that fall, nothing happened when I tried to turn it on. I have just now started to troubleshoot my problem now that it is getting a little warmer outside.

I do not have a torx bit that is long enough to get the cover off the motor, but I am curious if this model has a thermal overload switch that may have tripped? I could not find one in any diagrams I looked at.

While I try to find a way to get the cover off the motor, does anyone have an idea what might be my problem?

Thanks

Many compressors have an internal overload breaker, mine does. Look for a small pushbutton, located on the motor frame. It will trip if the motor draws too much current.

I needed to order the long torx bits, so I still cannot get the cover off. Thanks for the input ma0641, can anyone actually confirm if my model has some type of overload switch/button on the motor though? I would really like to know of a couple other things to check too, once I have the cover off.

It should be visible from outside. Mine is a black pushbutton.
