The book was a late 1970's to a 1980's book and I think it was the first of a triliogy. Basis was the main character infiltrate an alien queens alliance becomes her consort the have a child named Oree and eventually she betrays him. The ending is where the queen has ordered Gerard's memory to be erased ending with his final memory of Oree with eyes like the queens.
