I'd like to get rid of the old Quest PB stop valves in my bathrooms. Is there an easy way to get the ring off? Mine have what looks like stainless steel rings that keep the nut from sliding off the copper.

Did one with brute force but there's got to be a better way.

Are we talking about a compression fitting or a push pull stop?
