I am a nurse in Alabama and I was recently asked to take a random drug test. 9 days after I took the test, an MRO contacted me and stated that oxycodone had been found. I have never taken oxycodone, but I do have a current prescription for hydrocodone. How is this possible? What recourse do I have to defend myself? Help!

If you're a nurse chances are you're unionized. Contact your union. Talk with your boss and show him your prescription.

The hydrocodone gave you a false positive. It is so chemically similar to oxycodone that the initial coarse lab test probably couldn't differentiate between the two drugs.
