I was an F1 student from aug 2003 to April 2006. In 2006 I was on OPT from Jan to April 17th and then my H1 started. I worked in the same company in the whole year(both in OPT and H1) of 2006 and received one W2 form. I was on H1 more than 183 days. Which forms should I file? Can I use the 5150 deduction? Is my case a dual case?

You have a dual status situation. File a dual status tax return. It's more complex, so read Pub 519 carefully or hire a tax specialist.

You must file as a dual-status alien.
You CAN claim the $5,150 standard deduction if you are Indian and if you earned at least $5,150 while you were on F-1 status in 2006.
