I replaced the thermostats on my electric water heater. The new thermostats have no plastic protectors and the old plastic protectors do not fit the new thermostats. Should I put something in there before re-installing the insulation and metal plate?

Hi Rspraybe
No need to do anything at this point except place the insulation and then reinstall the door. The plastic piece was there to protect people from getting shocked if they wanted to change the temperature setting of the thermostat(s). In the future, if you want to set a new temperature be sure to shut power to the unit before messing with the thermostats for safety sake, OK?
