I have backed up all, my files and I wanted to boot my system to restore it back to how it was when I got it. The reason is I installed windows anytime upgrade not realising it needed a key for it. I rang up acer they said it was not supposed to be installed unless you upgrade. They told me how to boot the computer by press alt + f10 at the splash screen but it comes up with stuff I don't understand I press enter and nothing happens??

The Recovery CDs and the System CD will help you to restore the hard drive with the original software content that was installed when you purchased your notebook. If the restore partition is not working. Call Acer back and get the 2 CD'S for your specific system.
