My well froze up but I got it thawed out and I have water but now my gage is on 70 instead of 40 and when I turn on water the pump gage climbs to 90 and then ciicks off at 65 or 70 . Is this too high at 70 or will it be OK?

Yeah, that's too high. However, it could simply be a bad gauge. There should be a small tire valve at the top of the tank. Use a tire gauge to get a reading there. It should read the same as the gauge. If it doesn't, then the gauge should be replaced.
At 90#, you should notice quite a difference in the house, but I'm guessing the gauge is shot.
If the gauge is good, then looking at the pressure switch is the next step. If it's gone to 70/90, then I'd replace it rather than try to adjust it down by thirty or forty pounds.
