Ran out fuel burner shut off added fuel won't turn on

Air lock or a fuel feed line that's not bled and purged of air? Applies to both propane as well as fuel oil.

Or its possible that sludge at the bottom of the tank has fouled the lines or the burners. I would recommend a service to check and clean the burner.
