I have a compaq evo that beeps twice and flashes compaq screen very quickly in upper right hand corner it says f12 network boot or f10 system boot in lower left corner it has a blue block that says f1 boot I've tried all of these options fifty times as soon as I touch one of those keys the screen goes blank an machine locks up if I don't pick a key [very quickly] it just goes blank and locks up any suggestions ? Thanks tallgrassdave

Hi tallgrass try hitting f11, f1,or esc when it tries to boot up. If nothing happens then it sounds like your hard drive may have a problemand it may need to go in for repair

Have you tried resetting the BIOS cmos? Easiest way is to remove the battery for a few seconds, replace it, then start her up.
Try booting from your Windows XP CD, and go into recovery console. There are some commands there to fix mbr problems. Try "Fixmbr", exit and reboot.
