My father explained to me that if I replace the flapper inside my toto toilet I will get a little extra water and a better flush. Current flapper has a hole on the nipple part and he said if I get one that does not have the hole I will get a little bit of extra water making a better flush. Sometimes toilet cloggs and figured this might help but before I go threw the hassle on 2 toilet I would like to know if he is correct. Thanks for any help

I believe Toto uses a larger than standard flapper. I just hold the flush handle down a couple of extra seconds.

Toto flappers are very specific to the particular toilet you have. Could you have the wrong flapper...maybe? I'd get the Toto numbers out of the inside of the toilet TANK and see if you have the correct flapper(s). Contact a local Toto distributer (local plumbing supply wholesaler) and see if the color of the flapper(s) matches the recommended replacement flapper (i.e., red for red, blue for blue, etc.).
Also note, that if you adjust the chain from the flapper so it has no more than 1/4" jiggle room when lightly pressing on the toilet handle that should increase "hang time" of the flapper a bit.
Finally, flappers can wear/break down over time, so a replacement flapper certainly could be in order, but DO NOT just replace a Toto flapper with any flapper (hole or no hole). Get the correct replacement and place the chain on the chain link # recommended by Toto for best result (YUP! Toto even tells you how many chain links to use on the new flapper)!
Good luck!

Does anyone else know the answer to my question? Or maybe if I go into greater detail mark could help me. The two flappers I'm talking about are the same size and shapr. Only difference is one has a hole in the nipple part of the flapper. Both say on package there for my model. Which one will work better/stay open longer? Thanks
