General Harry Heth, I think he was under A.P. Hill corps in the battle of Gettysburg had an oversized hat stuffed with paper, which deflected a bullet thereby saving his life. Although he was knocked out.
Is this story true?

Easily found on Google.

Henry Heth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Heth)

And it was Henry Heth, not Harry Heth.

Monument to Heth's Division, 3rd Army Corps, Army of Northern Virginia at Gettysburg

The division's casualties were heavy and it was held in reserve on July 2nd. Heth himself narrowly escaped a serious head wound. Paper padding an aide had placed in his new hat to help its fit probably saved Heth's life
