When we shower the water gets to a certain temperature and does not go any hotter regardless of adjusting temp knob to highest setting

Hi davjan and welcome, what knob are you adjusting? Shower or water heater? Do you have an anti-scald valve installed? Giving more information will get better help.

Hi DavJan
By your description, it sounds like your shower valve has a TEMPERATURE LIMITING DEVICE (TLD) installed. Here, you can usually find the device under the handle of the valve (remove handle)...looks like a geared mechanism and can be adjusted to increase hot water temperature (some valves, like the SYMMONS valve, for example, have only a screw on the valve body UNDER the handle AND trim plate that can be adjusted).
See if you can determine the manufacturer of the valve and if you can you may want to contact their tech. services department for specification sheets that show exactly where and exactly how to adjust this TLD...;)
Good luck!
Mark
