Hi, my husband has been asked by his ex wife to adopt her child. My husband has raised him for the last 12 years. He also has a son that he pays $450 a month in child support for. The child's father wants to give up his rights but in the state of VA you have to have someone willing to adopt that child. I'm wondering how much more they will take for child support as we can't afford what we are paying now. My husbands income is only $2038.00 before taxes a month. I really need someone answers as to how to handle this and which way to proceed.

I don't understand. Your husband's ex wants him to adopy HER child. Does that means its not his child? If not, why is he raising him? And who's child is he paying support on?
