Bought Delta faucets for all the sinks in my newly built home. The plumber is telling me I have to us Moen for the 2 showers. I bought everything to match, now he wants me to change. Why can't he use what I bought for my showers?

Hi Tootsie

It isn't that you can't have the Delta valves...just that it is more work for the plumber! Here, the Moen shower valve is a shower valve that allows for an easy back to back installation because the Moen cartridge can be swapped over instead of switching the piping. The Delta valve is not so accommodating...requires a bit more work! I emphasize "a bit" as it really isn't that much extra work, so if you want Delta valves tell the plumber that is what you want...period.

If the plumber says he didn't bid the job that way, review your contract and if the contract doesn't clearly state what he is saying then he really has no case...make him install the valves you want. If the contract does state that he is correct then tell him that you want the Delta valves and are willing to pay a little more for the installation.

Pop back to discuss as needed, OK?
