For smokers, have you ever tried to stop smoking?
I'm trying to stop smoking now.
But, it's just a feeling, so I still haven't really started quitting yet.
So I'm interested in hearing your story.
Anybody here who's already stopped smoking?
How did you do it?

You have to want to do it. it sounds stupid but that is the bottom line....you have to WANT to.
I smoked for 20 years and quit back in 2004.
I wanted to quit and I followed through. I had tried to quit other times but wasn't really into it.
If you quit, you need to do something to replace the habit. Getting past the nicotine wasn't that hard, it was the habit itself that was difficult to get around. I was used to smoking after eating, while driving, while sitting with nothing to do. I replaced that habit with drinking bottled water. My hands were bored, they held the water and I drank it.
Also, you can't do the "just one more" or "it's been a week, one won't hurt me"....because once you do that ONE, it opens you up to allow yourself "just one more" and then you're back to doing it before you know it.
Good luck.
