I am trying to install a thermostat and something doesn't make sense, now are you really suppose to match color with letter, example G for green,W for white and R for red, because that's not what I have been hearing, but that's how my old thermostat is wired, its just three wires and everyone keeps talking about a black wire,I don't have a black wire, just green, white and red,I'm a rookie,so I just want to know if I really should wire the new one the same color to that letter. Its cold here in Ohio, please help asap.Thanx,Tod

Hi Tod

but that's how my old thermostat is wired

If your old thermostat was hooked up so G was green wire, R was red wire, and W was the white wire then that is exactly what you want to repeat using the new thermostat (in most cases).

Good luck!
