How do I make sure that my IE 8 is at its best performance. It seems like something is missing from it because when I go to my gmail on IE 8 it will say I need something like GoogleChrome to see everything on gmail. On another website the pdf files will not pop up even though there is no check in the box to prevent pop ups.

Any help will be appreciated.

Chrome is a browser from Google. So the message is saying that g-mail is optimized for Chrome. Nothing you can do about that with IE.

PDF issues, try installing/upgrading Adobe Acrobat Reader here. (http://get.adobe.com/reader/)

Also try disabling extensions/toolbars if you are having performance issues.
