I have a Honda CRV with 270000 miles. It has been driving fine although it is due for a new transmission I am sure. I drove it home the other day. About an hour later I went to leave and it would not start. It turns over great but no luck. I can hear the fuel pump when I try to start it. I rented a code reader from the automotive shop. As I previously thought I got a code for transmission. I do not see how that transmission code could be the reason for the car not starting. If I were driving that would be understandable. I replaced the distributor cap with a Honda one. The car still will not start. Could it be a bad sensor someplace and if so where could it be? There were no indications of a bad sensor on the code reader. Thanks in advance.

Replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM), coil, and rotor will solve your problem. Be sure to apply silicone heat transfer compound to the back of the new ICM.
