When I download the Java Development Kit version 7u51, my programs seem to target that download rather than the original Java files on my computer. As a result, the programs return this message, "Could not create the Java virtual machine." I then uninstalled JDK 7u51, but now I can't use the program I need for an online class that I am taking. Can anyone help me?

Are you doing java development (i.e. writing java programs), or just need java to do something else? 99% of people would need the Java Runtime Environment and not the Java Development Kit. Go to www.java.com (http://www.java.com) and click the big "Free Java Download" button and you should get what you need.

Hope this helps,

I'm using the BlueJ program and I need the Java Development Kit, but I only want the BlueJ program to use it. However, the JDK interferes with all of my other programs, such as games like Minecraft and League of Legends. I haven't checked all of my programs, but I feel as though they might be affected also.

OK, you are among the few who need JDK. See if this link (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/index-141751.html) will be of any help.

Sorry I can't be more specific,
