My gray water drain in my basement is not draining well.I used a snake to try and fix it .pulling the snake out I found small roots and some plant material.. what should I do?

Going in, let me say that sooner or later you're going to have to bite the bullet and replace the line that's letting roots in. Until then
RootX or Robics Foaming Root Killer that contain Dichlobrnic are two products you will keep them under control.
A less expensive way would be to call around to garden supply stores and ask for fine grain Copper Sulphate. Put a 1/2 pound in the drain and pour some water to get in distributed.
