Hi so lately I have been skipping my BC however my period went off on like Jan 2nd or 3rd and I had unprotected the sex the day after no pull-out or anything and also had unprotected sex that week after like Mon, Tues, Wed and then again on that Friday the 10th no pull out or anything however with the orthro tri-cyclen pill that I'm on my period is not suppose to come back on until like the end of this Month. And starting this TUes 01/14 I started spotting and it was light as in no tampon or pad needed just a pantiliner I spotted until Wed and I saw a little today its not really red but I saw a little red or pink maybe and I know it was a little brown. My breasts were sore like tender on I believe it was Wednesday. And maybe Tuesday as well. I used to always skip pills in the past and it never did it before. However during the times I had intercourse on last Wed and Fri the 10th I believe I was fertile at the time according to my period calendar. I've been having a good bit of heartburn lately as well, But I did take a test on Wed it said Negative but then I spoke with a nurse who told me to wait 2wks from now, because it could be too early to tell. But do you think that I could be Pregnant just from what I told you??

Of course you could be pregnant. You are having sex. There is no form of birth control that is 100% effective. Also, consider the fact that you are not taking the pill as directed. That increases your risk of pregnancy.
You are now playing the waiting game and have to wait to see if your next period comes as expected. If not, wait until it is 2 weeks late, then test using first morning urine.

Since you have been taking your pill inconsistently, it may be a matter of a month or two for your cycles to regulate if you are not pregnant. If you ARE pregnant, it still may be a month or two before you are able to test appropriately.

OK because even when I did it in the past it never spotted or was light before. Should I continue to take my BC even if it is a possibility that I am?

Yes, please take it EXACTLY as directed. If you cannot take it as directed, and you are not trying to conceive, you might want to consider an alternate form of contraception.

Hi alleycat3004,
Are you wanting to be pregnant? If so, best to stop the BC pills altogether as starting and stopping will cause your hormones to be off and this can make it more difficult to one: become pregnant (obviously) and two: determine pregnancy from a missed period.
Pregnancy is certainly possible, but often premenstrual symptoms and early pregnancy symptoms can be similar. Some of what you have felt would be too early for pregnancy since some of them occurred only about 4 days or so from when you think you were fertile.
As the nurse said, it would be too early to test just yet. See what happens when you expect your period. If no period, try a pregnancy test.
I hope it turns out how you would like it to!
