I believe I have broken the first knuckle of my middle finger on my left hand. It is bent and I can't straighten it out. My problem is it happened over a month ago and I put off getting it checked it. Now its starting to bother me. Is it worth going and getting it x-rayed or is there even anything they could do?

There might be, there might not be. Why didn't you go right away? It could also be a dislocation, which might be hard to put back but easier then a broken finger. If it is a broken finger it might be hard to reset it but not impossible. It just might be painful.

I would sure get it checked and find out for sure.

I broke a finger once with a doctor friend in town.. she just took me to CVS to buy a splint. Fingers generally don't get x-rayed, operated on, or set.
That's not to say that the finger is normal, 20 years later. It doesn't bend because all sorts of scar tissue has built up around the middle. Much if it after over 15 years, probably because I'm in my late 60s and have arthritis in all my fingers.
