The water at all sinks will get very hot any time of the day. However, the only time I can get nice and hot water in the shower is only after I have done a load of laundry, run the dishwasher, or after someone else has had a shower first. I have read other responses in regard to build up in the pipes, but as I said, hot water will occur later in the day, not first thing in the morning. Both bathroom showers have a single dial.

Is your house on concrete slab ? Also, how far is that particular shower from the water heater ?

We have a 2 story house with basement. The water heater is in the basement at the opposite end of the house. Our bedroom/bath is above the garage. But our children's bathroom will have the same problem and is above our kitchen.
For instance, tonight I gave my children a bath, but since we had not been home all day, nor done laundry or such, the water in the tub did not get hot, but the water at the sink could have burned them.

Is that sink located in the same bathroom ?

Yes. Anytime I run the water in the sink, in either bathroom, the water gets VERY hot. But the tub will not, again, if the water hasn't been run all day.

This may seem weird, but assuming that you have a clothes washer, closed one of the valves to it, either hot or cold and see what happens.

The washing machine is on the main level of the house. I will try that tomorrow morning and post how things go! Thanks!

It is a Moen single handle faucet in the tub. As for, "Do you have a we recirculating systems installed?" I am not sure what this is. I can tell you we have the standard hot water tank set up. The house is approximately 11 years old.

What happened when you shut the washing machine valve off as Hkstroud suggested, or did you forget to try that?
