We are experiencing below 0 wind chill and live in a mobile home. We have some frozen pipe issues that should be fixed later today. My question is the toilet tank. The pipe is frozen to the shower which also services the toilet. The toilet tank is empty but there is water in the stool part. I was putting water into the tank to use later to flush when necessary (the bathroom sink is OK and I have the faucet dripping. I was trying to use the dripping water to put in the toilet tank to help with flushing) but the water drains out of the tank. Where does that water go? Does it filter to the stool? Is that why there is water in the stool part?

It sounds like the toilet tank FLAPPER is defective and letting water leak by. In this case, replace the flapper with the same kind of flapper (if possible) and it should resolve the issue.

Get the name of the toilet (Kohler, American standard, Mansfield, etc.) and then call a local plumbing supply store to see if they carry that specific manufacturer's replacement flapper....hopefully, they will have an exact replacement. If not, you can order one online or you could try a "universal fit" flapper, but these usually do not work well...;)

Good luck!
