Hi, I am an very confused 18 year old girl... I have been searching the internet restlessly for an answer, but I can't seem to find one, so hopefully you can help me. I am sexually active, I am about 5'3 and weigh about 170. I have a history with painful, irregular periods, but this is different. I just recently got on a regular cycle of 39 days, and my 39 days was up on December 18. That puts my period at about 2-3 weeks late. I have taken two pregnancy tests and they were both negative. I also have noticed they my nipples are sore, I get a pressure headache every day, I am nauseated almost constantly, I had the first nosebleed of my life I use the bathroom more frequently and am hungry all the time. I don't have much money and don't want to go to the doctor without reason. So my question is what do I do? Wait and take another test or what? Its very unsettling not knowing... Thank you!

Headaches mean nothing... and most women have sore nipples around when their period is due.

2-3 weeks late is definitely time to be taking a test... are you doing it right after you wake up in the morning the first time you pee? If you are there are some women who do not test positive for several months, though most will after two weeks. You can also go to your gynecologist and have them do a blood test which is more accurate.

I agree, wait another two week and then test again.

It is possible.

With a history of irregular cycles, it could very well be that reoccurring. How many cycles had been regular at 39 days? However, what you have experienced could certainly be due to early pregnancy. Headaches, sore nipples, increased appetite, frequency to urinate, nausea, etc. are all possible signs, especially in early pregnancy.

As has been said, you could see your doctor for a test there or give it another couple of weeks and see what happens when you would expect another period.

You might also look into any pregnancy clinics or local health department for low cost pregnancy testing.
