Can I safely pull out my gas stove from up against the wall to see if I have a 220 outlet without damaging the gas line to the stove... getting ready to have a new electric stove and don't want to pull out gas stove if it will damage gas line to the old stove

You only need to pull it out a few inches to look with a flashlight... there will be more flex that that in the hookup line.

So as long as you don't plan to carry it out to the back porch will you check...

Just make a mental note as to where the shutoff is in case you start smelling gas. Just as a point of safety.

I agree, also check your breaker panel to see if you even have 240

Not all gas stoves are connected using flexible gas lines, some are hard piped. Lift top and you should see the gas line connections regardless of how it is connected. Most gas stove tops are hinged in the back, lift up from the front, and have prop rods to hold top up so you can connect piping.
