I want to set up my home for a wireless network. I have a pretty good DSL connection, and A westell 3800 modem with networking. We have 3 laptops, and do not have a PC wired up anywhere. That works good, but I want to be able to share files and print wirelessly.
I also have a nice netgear router, but I don't know what it does diferently than the modem
Any help would be awsome.

Thanks Matt

Do you have a router? Or are you just using a single modem with wireless?
If you have a router you need to go to your start menu, then control panel, then network connections. From there you can use the create a new connection feature. Follow the guide.

Well Matt,
You have to make sure the laptops sees the desktop, I don't know about the modem working as a router but you also have to have pci wireless net working built in the laptops. You may have to get cards for the laptops. You didn't say if you had drivers installed yet which you will need to run the router. Make sure you use the wep key or I could drive by your house and use your desktop.
