My friend did almost two months jail time for theft even though the charges were dropped the state had already picked them up. Received 5 yrs probation or less if did good behavior.. The first yr he paid monthly passed pop drug test even though he was not arrested for drugs but since he started working out of town he slacked on payments and reporting even though his officer new he was going out of town and was OK w it hasn't talked to them since for nearly 4 months now. Recently was arrested on way back to work hours from his home but still in same state for drug paraphernalia controlled substance and possession of marjiana... Sadly it sounds worse than what it is since honestly he quit smoking couple yrs back and just happened to have half a joint for the ride along w 3 adderall and unfortunately a glass pipe containing a little meth and was intentionally just to stay awake for the 14 hour drive he had to do alone and didn't have a choice but to drive straight through. Not taking up for him or trying to make excuses it just sucks knowing he used to do that in the past but wasn't afraid to do it for this trip and never even like adderall to begin with even during his partying days. So with no history of drug charges even though on probation and also since its classified as a simple amount is there any chance of avoiding jail time since he did bond out the next day and continued on to work and still working and maybe add more fees and extension of probation?

No, the charges were not dropped, they sound like they were sent to higher court perhaps. You do not get put on probation if charges are dropped.

And no, having a "hit" for the road is not quit.

When you want to tell the real story, please come back and do so.

He violated probation with a new drug charges, he will be held for a hearing, and it is up to the judge
