Got caught shoplifting a pack of 8 AA Duracell batteries, value at $7.99,at Canadian Tire.Went to the back with sedurity officer.I had no ID on me, but I gave him my real name, real address, social security number, no lying. He didn't call the police, didn't make me sign any paper, nothing. My first time in my life with trouble with the law,I'm 60 years old. Will I go to court? He mention something civil fine.. Should I pay the civil fine? I read somewher (USA posts) that you don't have to pay the civil fine... isit true? idon't remember exact words, I was so ashame of myself... anyway my first time & last time for me for sure... I learn my lesson

What happens depends totally on the store, or on corporate offices.
- They may do nothing (not likely, but all you can do is wait)
- You may get a company fine for legal fees. Some stores charge as much as $500!
- You may go to court (not likely, from what they said)
All you can do is wait...

Wait until you get served with the paperwork. If that happens, probably, yes. The alternative, I suspect, will be criminal charges and you don't want that.

I'm 67. I shoplifted quite a bit when I was 19. I was miserable. Maybe something is missing in your life?

Ya I have been very down & depressed in the last few months, I don't know what it is... I'm usually a very social person all my life... I guess I should go see my doctor & talk about it with him...

If you can afford tests of your chemistry before therapy for depression, ask for that.
You sure you don't have any clue about changes in your life?
