I rented this movie from Blockbuster in the 1990s. It was sort of a dark comedy. The opening scene was of a man/dad/farmer and a runaway horse. I think the horse was hitched to a wagon or something. Man threatens to shoot horse. I think he tries and the horse runs away. The second scene I remember is of 2 older men escaping from a hospital or nursing home in the winter and walking in the snow. The third scene is of the mother in the farmhouse kitchen imagining she is serving a meal to the farm workers who aren't really there. Her children start to realize she is losing it. That is all I remember! The movie seemed to center somehow around the search for the horse. One of the daughters is very attached to the horse and goes looking for it... Help! It's driving me crazy. :)
