I'm nearly 20 years old and have had regular periods since I was 10. I'm on the pill but as have been stressed and tired lately have forgotten to take it a couple of times. I was 11days late but decided not to take a pregnancy test until 2 weeks late. Then I started my period but it was strangely light and only lasted for 3 days. I know the pill can mess up your cycle, especially when a pill is missed, but I've done this before and this has never happened. Since my period stopped (6 days ago) I've experienced nausea, mood swings and other symptoms like those you have when your period is due to start. Is it possible I could be pregnant??

Yes, pregnancy is possible. Wait another 3 days, then test using first morning urine. If that test is negative, wait to see what happens with your next period. If you miss it, test again or get a blood test done.

Missing pills increases your chance of pregnancy. If you can't remember to take your pills, perhaps another form of birth control would be a better option.

It is entirely possible that you're pregnant. Whenever you engage in intercourse there is a chance. The real question is the probability that you're pregnant. That is probably incredibly low. If you had a period, light as it might be, it means that you're not pregnant.

Now comes why you had that wonky period. Pills and missing pills can cause odd things to happen but so can stress and exhaustion. That can cause late periods, which compounds things because you're stress because you missed your period. Vicious circle.

I would find a good time to take your pill, set an alarm on your phone and make sure to take it EVERY day at the same time. You're compromising your protection when you miss a pill. They work by convincing your body that it's already pregnant so it doesn't need to the entire ovulation thing. The problem lies in the hormone it mimics to do this, if it isn't in the right concentration at the right point then you could ovulate and you've got a problem.
