Hi, I am 27 years old and I have a dual citizenship (Philippines and US). I have lived in the Philippines most of the my life and I have visited the US on 2 occasions earlier but the longest time I've stayed is for 3 months. Now that I have finished college in the Philippines, I decided to come here to the US and stay with my sister until I get a job. I am currently staying in Virginia and this is the first time I have heard about Selective Service. I have applied for my social security number at the age of 22 and I was never informed that I needed to register for it. I have been going to the US consulate in the Philippines and I was never informed that I needed to sign up for it. I would like to know what would be the best process to do or if anyone has a similar experience.

From: Selective Service System: Registration Information (http://www.sss.gov/qa.htm#quest11)

"What if I am over age 26 and haven't registered?
Once you reach age 26, it's too late to register. Even though you may not be prosecuted, you may be denied student financial assistance, Federal job training, and most Federal employment unless you can provide convincing evidence to the agency providing the benefit you are seeking, that your failure to register was not knowing and willful.
