I am a 25 year old male, Caucasian, fairly healthy, 6'0- 180lbs. I have a long history, ten years, of recurrent kidney stones. I've had approximately 400 stones and multiple surgeries, I was medically retired from the army because of it.
My dad had multiple myeloma, kidney failure, and died at 40 from the cancer. And my mom has high blood pressure and varicose veins. I've always been pretty healthy (diet and exercise) but I smoke about a half a pack of cigarettes a day. Other than that, I guess I'm fairly normal.
But, the past month or so, my feet and ankles have been swelling on and off. When they do I feel really tired and weak, want to do nothing but lay in bed or on the couch. I also get headaches regularly now, and I really don't want to go see a doctor unless its something serious. I have a very busy life- married, kid, school, work, etc. Last night until now, 24 hours and still present, they've been so swollen its been painful in my feet and calves just to walk, I'm so tired I can barely hold my eyes open, and I have a headache. Why could this be happening? Do my symptoms really exhibit a serious problem to worry about? I'm tired of my feet and ankles swelling and hurting and the headaches and feeling tired and lazy. I want to know what's wrong... Please help me with any advice/experiences/answers you may have. Thank you for your time and opinions.

I have to say that with all of the symptoms you describe for a young man who 'thinks' he is healhy and with such is living in a fantasy he can't afford to any longer.

For heavens sake get to your doctor ASAP and get diagnosed properly !

Thanks for the advice, but you aren't telling me anything I don't already know. That still doesn't answer my question though. I'm wanting to know what could be causing this, not what I should do about it... I'm well aware that I need to go see a doctor. And I will Friday. But for now, I'm looking for someone with experience/knowledge (medical professional or someone that has been, or knows someone who had something like this diagnosed). Wikipedia and WebMD are great, but they don't answer questions for specific people and situations. Thanks for the response though. And you are right.
