I own a unit and we have troublesome tenants. The unit is manged by a real estate agent. The tenants have now had four call-outs related to lighting fires for cooking inside the unit and setting off the alarm. The tenants refuse to pay. The Body Corporate is sending us the bills. Who is rtesponsible for payment.

You say "lighting fires for cooking". Do you mean to say that they were attempting to light the cooking stove which comes with the unit, or something else? Was it a malfunctioning stove, or malfunctioning alarm, or was it an actual cooking fire?

I agree with AK, that you need to define this better. What do you mean by "call outs"? Does the unit have a fire alarm or monitored alarm system that have gone off resulting in calls to the FD? What was the result of these calls and what caused the alarms to go off?

People don't cook over open fires much anymore unless you count backyard Bar B Qs, but that wouldn't be inside the unit.

Also any question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.
