My sons so called friend stole something's while they were at a kmart my son had no idea about this and he is also being charged with theft and also we are charged to pay back 375.00 dollars to store which seems unfair since my son didn't take anything and also he is suppose to go to teen court. And when the officer brought him home he told us how the so called friend has had a rough life and has ran away from home and been in trouble before if I had known that my son would have never been hanging around this kid. So now what do I do about this matter

You should hire an attorney and your son should ask his friend to do the right thing and tell the truth.

As a teenager, I was with friends who defaced a picnic table in a county forest and got caught. It cost me $600 of hard earned babysitting money to learn to be more selective in choosing friends. The two responsible did nothing to take responsibility or get the other two if us, who were not involved, out of trouble.

Your son should pay the fine and if he doesn't have the money, he earns it and pays you back. He was probably involved or at least aware if what his friend was doing (yes our kids do lie at times).
