Hello! I'm looking for information to help me make a decision about what I'll need to buy for a project in my shower. My husband is pretty tall and right now, he has to stoop in the shower or adjust the shower head so that the spray hits high on the opposite wall and leaks out of the tub. I'd like to raise the shower head for him as a Christmas gift, or at least get the parts for it.

My dilemmas: I do not want to have to drill a new hole in the wall. We're renting.

My husband really likes the water pressure of our current shower head and the idea of a shower head that simulates rain fall sounds really unpleasant to him.

So, what can I do to raise the shower head and maintain the current pressure? What should I buy? Is it possible?

Hi Audry... sure is possible.

You can remove the shower head and the shower arm and then purchase a 1/2" x whatever depth is needed to thread nipple into wall and still have threads left to attach a 1/2" brass elbow outside the wall, (2) 1/2" brass elbows, a 1/2" x whatever height you want to raise the shower head brass nipple, and then (2) 1/2" x 1.5" brass nipples, and a 1/2" brass 45. These can all be ordered in chrome, too, but will be expensive! You'll also need Teflon tape for the threads on the pipes.

You would assemble all and then add the old shower head to the brass 45 fitting (using the brass nipple included in above information).

It should NOT be a tough job, but you will need to be careful in removing the old shower head and shower arm. Otherwise, pretty easy job!
