Gas Water Heater GE Model GG640T06AVG01 won't stay lit. I was reading the thermocouple could be the problem. Where is it located.

Inside the HW heater, behind the front opening.. Flame impinges on it and is the small wire from the gas valve. If you have never done one and this is a fairly new heater with no standing pilot, suggest professional help.

Hi there... hate to say it - but these GE hot water heaters are know for having this type of problems. We stopped installing them couple of years ago just bcs of that. Let's hope it is a thermo-coupling. If not, you will have to replace entire gas safety valve. And that's costly. Call GE. They will tell you how to proceed. Let us know how you did. Back to you. How old is your water heat?

You still may have the warranty, as Milo says call GE, Good luck.
