So, basically I liked this girl, she liked me back. This went on for a little while, without any real relationship blooming. Then, one day I told her I got over her and I like another girl. She got really mad at me, because she lied to the girl I liked now to try and cover up our "relationship". I know it's my fault, and I've apologized a lot. I tried talking to her, but it's always on the cold side. What should I do?

You yourself said that there was no relationship, you merely liked each other. Now you found someone else you like more. You're 16, you're fickle. That's the way it is with teen "relationships".
You could have handled things better, and not simply told her you're over her, and you're moving on to someone else. But it's too late to change that. It is what it is. You liked her, she liked you, neither one of you liked each other enough to actually have a relationship, now you like someone else. You'll have to forget about the first girl, not likely that she's going to forgive you. After all, she's 16 too.

I don't get why she lied or what she lied about? If she just said she was in a relationship with you, she kind of was but it didn't go very far. If she made up a real lie, I don't think that's your problem.
But telling her the way you did was rude. How about, "I like being friends with you but I'd like to keep it at friends". Why even bring up the other girl to her? When you break up, leave other people out if it. If she asks if there's soneone else, avoid answering and put focus back on you and her, "I of course care enough about you to make this decision based on our friendship, which is great but doesn't feel right for dating." Then be a little sensitive... date who you want but keep it quiet and don't make it apparent at school. Let some time pass or you'll come off as a jerk and end up hurting people.
