Hi,

I am a computer programmer and am working on a little project to read in temperature from a probe to the computer (possibly via USB). I unfortunately have no experience in electrical engineering and am finding it near impossible to get started with what to do with the probe. In short, I would like to take something like this:

Thermocouple Probes With and Without Mounting Threads and M12 Connectors (http://www.omega.com/pptst/M12probes.html)

And read it into the computer. If someone could point me in the right direction on what all is needed for that type of interfacing such as connectors, converters, etc. that would be awesome. I'm really looking to learn a lot about the engineering side as well as create a temperature probe for the project.

Thanks,
Wade

That probe would be used in chemical process control, designed to primarily measure liquid temps. It is basically a thermocouple that would need a milliamp meter. If you Google "USB thermometer " you will find lots of them
