My wife and I divorced in Missouri. Missouri is where my child support order was issued. However, I reside in Georgia and my ex wife resides in Missouri. I received a child support enforcement letter from GA Department of child support stating they would enforce my child support order for the arrears. I set up payments with them and paid my arrears off. However, when Georgia attempted to close the case they told me that Missouri is showing that my case is under financial review and they cannot close it. When I inquired as to why, Georgia stated I had to contact Missouri because it is their order and Georgia only got involved to enforce and collect the arrears. But when I call Missouri they say I have to speak with Georgia and will not provide any information, nor discuss my case. This back and forth has been going on for 2 months. Now when I call the IRS they also state I have a pending debt with Missouri child support agency. Which leads me to believe my case has to belong to Missouri. Do I need to obtain a lawyer? If so, in which state? Can I demand the financial review information? Do I do this in writing, because phone calls lead to dead ends?
