I have a desktop computer connected to ethernet and want to use my laptop with the network card (5 year old computer), and it used to work. Works at the library with WiFi but will not connect at home to Internet Explorer. It is reading that I have a router and the connection is excellent. But is is saying my IP is not available and will not connect to IE. What should I do? Kathy

Sounds like you have a hard coded IP. Change your setup to Automatically obtain an IP.

Scott,
I thought it was automatic, but I will double check. I am not sitting in front of the computer. What is the best way to I check for a hard coded IP

Check the TCP/IP settings for your LAN connection.
