I have a double sink set up exactly like this and it has plugged up twice, the last time with a load of kale that was ground into a purée and clogged up the weir inside of the tee. Do you think maybe it would be safer with the two trap/when setup, or possibly a tee that did not have a weir in it?
Thanks, Barry

Best to;

1. Turn on the water.
2. Turn on the disposal.
3. Put in the waste food.
4. When finished turn off disposal.
5. Turn off water.

Follow that practice and you shouldn't have blockages.

Hi bschmitt and Welcome to The Plumbing Page at AMHD.com. You're responding to a 3 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own.

It is best not to run leafy vegetables through the disposal. I have been on service calls were they not only block the kitchen drain but the sewer lines to the street as well. You did get your sink unblocked didn't you...didn't you?

Back to you, Tom
