I recently rented an apartment in Fort Myers, FL. I came home one day and found out that it was in foreclosure. The original file date was in April and this was October. How do I get my $1800 back?

Being "in" foreclosure does not preclude the owner renting it. Until the property is sold off in auction or otherwise, the owner can still try to rent it. The rental may help him avoid foreclosure.

So what makes you think you are entitled to your $1800 back?

And even after it is sold off, the tenant's lease is still valid, assuming it's a "bona fide lease". See the sticky about the Protecting Tenants in Foreclosure Act here (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/real-estate-law/paying-rent-when-property-foreclosure-316199-2.html).
