Hi. My folks have a 2yrld male cat that has been fixed and I am bringing a new cat into the household who is 3 yrld female. How should I go about this... leave the new cat in its own room with litter box and food by itself to get comfortable? How do I ease them into each other?

If you separate them right of the bat you are delaying th inevitable. Animals can sort themselves out and you will notice they will work through it themselves. There won't likely be any fights as you think, there is territory involved and a pecking order, the new cat will most likely defer to the already established feline and all will work out fine, but don't expect them to be friends.

Introduce them slowly and if there is a lot of aggression and violent behaviour than separate by rooms for a couple of days, what I did when I introduced a wild cat into my home with 2 other cats is that I separated them by bedroom and I would place their water and food dishes each on the other side of the door so when they were eating they could smell each other under the door and get familiar, cats are very territorial and if you rush this they will get aggressive. Slow introductions and make sure your old cat gets a little extra tlc, because they do become jeolous too. But you got the right idea,
