I read the sewer smell posts and have tried all that (I have the laundry floor drain and have pored bleach, hot water, and vinegar down there... ) I am wondering what this hose is that flickit mentioned

Also I have a tub sink in the laundry with a drain pipe that extends from the wall. We never use that sink because the PVC trap and drain pipes keeps getting bumped and disconnecting. So we took it apart and now there is a hole in the wall which is supposed to be part of the drain. I bet the smell is coming from that... any way to prevent that? Just now I rubber-banded a thick plastic bag over it to help keeps smells from coming out/up.
What do you think?
I am in Anchorage Alaska and cannot find a WALL mounted utility sink... just this rickity tub with legs.

Well first rent you a drain auger and clean every thing out.
One good thing about plumbing is that the parts are fairly cheap, and it really is not very hard if you understand the system. It sounds like you can fix both things.
But because of the sewer gas, a plumber mat be in order.

Oh by the way... the RETARDED tile man must have cleaned his grout down my floor drain... we have tried the auger to no avail... liquids WILL go down the drain but the auger can't get down too far. Any other advice... what about the drain in the wall (for the unused sink) do you think the smell could be escaping from that?

Install a permanent hard cap on the open stubout as soon as possible.
