Hi! I've presently got a mechanical double pole 22 amp thermostat that controls a single room with 2 baseboard units. The threshold on the thermostat seems to be getting worse and worse, so I believe it needs replaced.

I'd like to get one of those programmable thermostats, but all I seem to be able to find is a double pole 16 amp. Would that work? Are there 22 amp programmable thermostats? Where would I find one?

Thanks!

How many feet of baseboard does the thermostat control?

I think it's 12 feet, 2 6 foot sections on opposite walls.

Your 12 ft. of baseboard should draw about 12.5 amps. That being the case, a 16 amp stat would be fine.

Thanks! Would there be plates on the baseboards themselves detailing this information? If I like the programmable, I may start replacing the remaining 7.

There may or may not be data plates. Most electric baseboard is 250 watts per foot which equates to about 1.05 amps at 240 volts. Watts divided by volts = amps
