I have tried everything I can think of. I just brought a house in Dec 06 which was built on the early 80's. I have low pressure in the shower and even lower pressure to the outside spigots for the garden hose, could it be the PRV is bad or could it that polbutylene pipe that has been causing so many problems... Any suggestions?

It is not the PRV but tell us about your other faucets and spouts. Do you have good pressure anywhere?

Yes all the faucets have pretty good pressure to include the washer machine. Keep in mind I came from a apartment where the pressure was great. The spouts outside the pressure is really low I'm using 5/8" garden hose for those spouts outside?

Ballenger asked a pertinent question. Your answer put the problem squarely on the valves and faucets involved and not the system itself. Start by opening up the valves giving problems and clearing and cleaning the seats on the olutside hose bids and inlet ports on the shower valve cartridge. While each valve's open turn the water back on to test and flush the supplies. You should have a full stream coming out of the open valve. If not click on back. Good luck, Tom

Don't understand when say clearing and cleaning the seats on the outside hose bids and the shower valve cartridge?

Hey Mike,

"Don't understand when say clearing and cleaning the seats on the outside hose bids and the shower valve cartridge?"

That means taking the outside hose bibs apart and cleaning the trash out of all the openings. Then turn the water back on for a minute to flush any trash that may be left in the supply line. Do the same thing with your shower valve. Good luck, Tom

I understand now, I did that before I place the shower head on , as well with the outside for the garden hose since they left uncovered while the house sat vacant..
