I have a judgment against a former tenant. How do I find out his place of employment in order to do a wage garnishment. I have tried Facebook, linkedin, etc. I do not have an attorney and would like to avoid one since they are very expensive.

Well you can save money and do it yourself... as you find doesn't work quite so well... or you can hire someone with the resources and access to get the info.

Is collecting zero better than whatever the the judgement would be minus the costs?

They don't have to be a lawyer... many Private investigator can also do this... for a fee of course.

Do you know he has a job? Do you know where he moved to?

Didn't you take this info when he first rented? Did you check with the job he listed and see if they know where he went?

Do you know where he is living now, maybe you can follow him.

Did he pay by check? Have you checked to see if he still has that account so you can attach that?

This is the problem with judgments. Its generally easy to get a judgment, but much harder to collect on it.

Have him followed ? Check with references on his rental application, call last place of employment ?
