On Saturday at 39 weeks I lost a little bit of my plug. Started getting niggling pains after nothing major. Then early hours of Monday morning I started getting pains more regular and I noticed I had started bleeding . From 3am Monday morning to now tuesday12pm I've been getting pains in my front moving round my hips and into my lower back. Excrutiating back pain! I went to the hospital Monday and I was only 1cm dilated and she said my cervix is softening and the blood was the mucus plug still coming out. Ive started to feel the urge to wee a lot more. Therse pains are just not shifting. So restless . Could I be in slow labour? Or is this just normal leading up to my due date in 3days?

Your due date is a best guess, the number people who go on their due date are slim.

You're already in labor. You're dilated and it sounds like you're having contractions of one nature or another. I am not sure what a contraction should be like because my wife barely had any and never recognized them, but from what we heard in our prenatal class. It could be.

I would walk it a little and go back to the hospital. Going from 1cm to OMG HAVING BABY NOW can take from a few hours to a few days. Have a good way to get to the hospital in hand. If I remember correctly, contractions 5 min apart, lasting 1 min, for 1 hour is a solid sign to go in.

You are in early labor, that is for sure, but active labor isn't until you are 4cm dilated. That can be hours or days away. Losing the mucous plug does not account for actual labor.

Are you timing your contractions? Do you know how to time them? The best way is to time from the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of the next. Consistency is key here.
